CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Women's Tennis Team (1-13, 1-5 GSC) clinched a berth in the GSC Championship Tournament with a 4-3 win over the Lady Bucs from Christian Brothers University (5-8, 0-8 GSC) Monday afternoon at the Cleveland Country Club.
 
The Lady Statesmen keyed on a strong start earning the doubles point as the team of Elena Palioura and Yasmina Mayer won the no. 1 doubles match 6-1. The team of Maria Caride and Weronika Kaczmarska clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win.
 
Delta State would win three points in singles action in the one two and three spots starting with Palioura winning in straight sets (6-0, 6-1). Caride would win no. 2 singles in straight sets as well (6-4, 6-0).
 
Mayer would earn the clinching point in no. 3 singles, winning in straight sets (6-1, 6-2).
 
The Lady Statesmen host Mississippi College on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. (CDT) at the Cleveland Country Club.
