LAKELAND, Fla. – Delta State University Baseball's Senior duo of
Brett Burrell and
Drake Fontenot earned Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) and National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association All-Region honors.
Both Statesmen after receiving first team All-GSC honors earned first team All-South Region honors from both associations.
Fontenot, the Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the year had a tremendous season for the green and white as the Statesmen clinched their program's 37
th NCAA Tournament berth. The Bossier City, La., native had a 2.50 ERA along with 86 strikeouts in 100.2 innings pitched for Delta State in their 2025 GSC Regular Season Championship season.
Drake has earned GSC Pitcher of the Week Honors five times this season and has broke the school record for consecutive shutout innings pitched with 39.1 from February 7
th, to March 14
th. Fontenot is the first Statesmen to win GSC Pitcher of the Year since Tre Hobbs won it in 2016. Fontenot was a finalist for the Ferriss Award which is awarded annually to the most outstanding college baseball player in Mississippi.
Burrell, a first team All-GSC honoree was a threat at the plate for Delta State in the 2025 season. The Cleveland native led all hitters with a .373 batting average including 23 extra base hits and 51 runs driven in.
Brett has earned recognition from the Gulf South Conference as he was named a GSC Top Ten Award winner last week and a finalist for the GSC Commissioner's trophy which is the conference's most prestigious individual honor and will be announced in-person at the GSC Awards Ceremony on Thursday, May 29 in Pensacola, Fla.
