CLEVELAND, Miss.—In a challenging contest at Delta Field on Friday afternoon, Delta State University men's soccer suffered a 3-0 loss to the University of West Florida, falling to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
West Florida struck early in the match with a goal by Manu Bernabeu in the 2nd minute, followed by another Bernabeu goal in the 15th minute. West Florida added their 3rd and final goal of the match in the 51st minute with a good shot by Kendrick Hernandez.
Statesmen goalkeeper Daniel Santema posted three saves on 16 total UWF shots, six being on-goal. Santema, Logan Funk, and Santiago Rossi played all 90 minutes of the match.
The Statesmen are back in action Sunday at Delta Field at 3:30 in a match against Spring Hill.
