Lady Statesmen Draw with No. 6 West Florida

CLEVELAND, Miss.—The Delta State University women's soccer team played a great defensive match against the No. 6 ranked West Florida Argonauts on Friday afternoon, ending in a 0-0 tie in the Gulf South Conference opener. The Lady Statesmen are now 1-2-2 overall and 0-0-1 in GSC play.

Delta State outshot West Florida 13-10, with five shots on-goal. Chloe Colquhoun and Millie Congerton were especially active, creating multiple scoring opportunities. Colquhoun had four shots (two on-goal) and Congerton posted five shots (two on-goal).

The Lady Statesmen held UWF to just 10 shots (four on-goal) while conceding only five saves to the UWF keeper, showcasing discipline and strong positioning. Delta State's back line and goalkeeper Piper Burgess did not allow many opportunities for West Florida.

Burgess was solid in-goal for the Green-and-White, recording four saves during the match and keeping a clean sheet.
