Price Nixon both earned Gulf South Weekly honors announced this morning by the conference office.
Junior defensive lineman
Alex Larry earned Defensive Player of the Week after seeing the Fort Valley State Backfield in DSU's 21-16-win Saturday. The Greenwood native had three TFLs and Two Sacks as he totaled six tackles in the win. Larry had a key sack in the Wildcats final drive, running the clock out to clinch a Green and White victory.
Senior Kicker/Punter
Price Nixon had several key moments for the Statesmen in their 21-16 win at FVSU. The Clinton native pinned the Wildcats inside their 20 three times on punts, went 3-3 on extra points, along with an impressive onside kick that Delta State recovered midway through the third quarter.
The Statesmen (3-1,0-0 GSC) will continue non-conference play as they return to Parker-McCool this upcoming Saturday as they host the Flying Fleet from Erskine College at 6:00 p.m. (CDT)
