TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Delta State University men's and women's swim and dive programs took on the Division I power Crimson Tide from the University of Alabama Saturday afternoon at the Alabama Aquatics Center.
The Crimson Tide bested the Statesmen 248-41, and the Lady Statesmen fell 253-33.
On the men's side, the Statesmen had standout performances in the pool from seniors
Austin Huffhines, and Riley Oaks along with a personal best on the boards from freshman
Gabriel Ledon.
Huffhines posted a season best 1:40.87 in the 200-yard freestyle.
In the 200-yard back, Oaks placed in the top four with a time of 1:56.13 in his first time competing in the event this season.
Freshman
Crosby Fenniman made an impact for the Statesmen in the 200-yard breaststroke. The Tallahassee native posted a time of 2:12.81 in his first time swimming the 200-yard breaststroke this season.
On the boards, freshman
Gabriel Ledon had a solid outing for the Green and White. The Loganville, Ga., native placed third in both 1 meter and 3-meter diving events.
On the Lady Statesmen side, the Green and White had solid outings from
Chloe Skelt and
Olivia Murphy.
Skelt and Murphy were half of the 200-yard medley relay team with Nicolette Wight and
Kennedy Cleasant improved from their Magnolia Invite meet performance with a time of 1:45.16.
Individually Skelt had her season best in the 100-yard breaststroke, placing third with a time of 1:05.17.
Murphy made her season debut in the 50-yard freestyle posting a time of 23.63.
Freshman
Ella Berg made her debut in the 200-yard butterfly where she posted a time of 2:15.24.
The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen are back in action on Friday, Oct. 23 as they travel to Little Rock for the Little Rock Sprint Shootout.
