Strong Second Half Lifts Lady Statesmen to a 76-67 win over Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Delta State University women's basketball team used a dominant fourth quarter and a balanced scoring effort to secure a 76–67 road win over Trevecca Nazarene on Saturday afternoon, closing out its regular-season road slate with a key GSC victory.

The Lady Statesmen (16–10, 14–7 GSC) outscored the Trojans 29–23 in the final period and shot 53.3 percent over the final 10 minutes to pull away after entering the quarter with a narrow 47–44 lead. Delta State finished the day shooting 43.3 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from three, while holding Trevecca to just 3-of-15 from beyond the arc.

Delta State's depth proved decisive, with the bench outscoring Trevecca's reserves 28–5. Adyson Roberts led all DSU scorers with a DSU career-high 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting, including a pair of threes, while adding four rebounds and five assists. Dakiya Toney delivered a strong interior performance with 12 points and seven rebounds, and Alyse Holliman added 10 points on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting day.

Madi Kate Vuncannon chipped in 10 points and knocked down two threes, and Jariyah Williamson orchestrated the offense with nine points and a game-high nine assists. Delta State committed just seven turnovers while forcing 18, converting those into 18 points.

Trevecca (16–9, 13–7 GSC) was led by a standout 32-point effort from Jordan Gillies, who went 11-of-24 from the floor and 9-of-10 at the line. Cheyenne Trotter added a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, but the Trojans struggled to generate consistent offense outside their top scorer.

After trailing 20–19 at the end of the first quarter, Delta State endured a cold second period—shooting just 2-of-13—but responded with a 21-point third quarter to regain control. The Lady Statesmen then delivered their best offensive frame in the fourth, fueled by timely perimeter shooting and an 11-of-12 performance at the free-throw line.

Delta State also held the lead for more than 21 minutes and posted its largest advantage at 11 points late in the fourth.

The win strengthens DSU's position heading into the final week of the regular season and adds another quality road result to its postseason résumé.

DSU will be back a home for Senior night next Friday night as they will host the Lady Choctaws from Mississippi College. The Senior day festivities will be between the women's and men's game at Walter Sillers Coliseum.
