MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Delta State University women's tennis team moved to 6–1 on the season after a steady 4–1 win over Southwest Baptist, taking the doubles point and securing three straight-set singles victories.
The Lady Statesmen earned the doubles point behind a 6–4 win from
Anastasiia Iakovlieva and
Yasmina Mayer at No. 2 and a 6–1 result from
Lena Kuehn and
Angie Moreno at No. 3.
In singles, SBU claimed No. 2, but Delta State controlled the remaining completed courts. Iakovlieva rolled to a 6–0, 6–2 win at No. 4, and Moreno delivered a 6–0, 6–0 sweep at No. 6. Kuehn clinched the match at No. 5 with a 6–4, 6–1 victory. Courts one and three were left unfinished.
The Lady Statesmen will be back in action tomorrow as they will take on the Muleriders from Southern Arkansas University. That match will start at 11:00 a.m. (CT) from the Live Oak Tennis Courts.
