PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Delta State University women's tennis team earned a strong top-court singles win but fell 6–1 to West Florida on Tuesday afternoon in Pensacola.
The Argonauts claimed the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. On court three,
Yasmina Mayer and
Angie Moreno trailed 5–3 when the point was clinched.
Amelia Ciesielczyk delivered DSU's lone point with a composed performance at No. 1 singles, winning 6–2, 7–6, 7–4.
West Florida took the remaining courts in straight sets. Mayer fell 6–0, 6–0 at No. 3, Kuehn dropped a 6–1, 6–2 match at No. 5, and Ly was defeated 6–1, 6–4 at No. 2. Iakovlieva fell 6–2, 6–2 at No. 4, and Moreno closed the match with a 6–2, 6–1 result at No. 6.
Delta State returns to action next week for its next GSC matchup on the road at Mississippi College on Tuesday March 17
