CLEVELAND, Miss. — The Delta State University women's tennis team defeated the Harding University Bisons 4-1 Friday afternoon at the Cleveland Country Club.
Delta State (10-6) earned the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 2, highlighted by a statement win at the top spot. Amelia Ciesielczyk and Yasmina Mayer defeated the nation's No. 5-ranked doubles team from Harding, 6-3. Anastasiia Iakovlieva and Trinity Ly added a 6-2 win at No. 2.
The Lady Statesmen secured the match with singles wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4. Trinity Ly posted a 6-2, 7-6 victory at No. 2, while Yasmina Mayer earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3. Anastasiia Iakovlieva added a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
Harding (3-11) recorded its lone point at No. 1 singles. Matches at No. 5 and No. 6 were unfinished.
The Lady Statesmen take a week off before heading to Jackson to take on the Tigers from Jackson State University on Tuesday, April 7th.
