CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Delta State University Women's Soccer Program will begin its 2026 season this weekend as the Lady Statesmen travel to Florida for their first two matches.
The Lady Statesmen will travel to Saint Leo, Florida, to take on the Lions from Saint Leo University on Thursday, August 27, at 2:00 p.m. (CT) / 3:00 p.m. (ET). The Lady Statesmen will then travel to St. Petersburg, Florida, to face the Tritons from Eckerd College on Saturday, August 29, at 11:00 a.m. (CT) / 12:00 p.m. (ET).
Scouting the Lady Statesmen

• The Lady Statesmen earn their highest GSC preseason ranking in program history as they were picked fourth in the GSC Preseason Coaches' Poll, marking their highest in program history.
• Senior attacker Millie Congerton has been named a preseason All-GSC forward for the 2026 season. Congerton returns for her senior season after being the team's leading scorer with 13 total points on six goals and one assist. The Rickmansworth, England native scored three game winning goals, all coming in conference play.
• In preseason play against Holmes Community College, senior forward Kennedi Turner had a stunning performance in the second half with a six point performance on two goals and two assists.
• The redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Piper Burgess is back in goal for the Lady Statesmen. She had 38 saves last year and a save percentage of 0.679. The La Vergne, Tenn., native had four shutouts in goal last season in conference play.

Scouting the Lions

• The Lions are looking to improve their season from last year after posting a 3-9-3 overall record and a 1-6-3 record in Sunshine State Conference Play.  
• They are led by sophomore Chloe Frosese, who gave them 10 points last year with 5 goals during her freshman season.
• Returning junior goalkeeper Emma Guidotti is back for the Lions. Last year she had 29 saves with a 0.644 save percentage.

Scouting the Tritons

• Last year, the Tritons finished arguably their best season in program history finishing in second place with a 7-5-5 overall, going 6-2-2 in conference play. The Tritons are picked third in the SSC preseason poll.
• Last season, the Lady Statesmen and the Tritons tied 1-1 in the Lady Statesmen's season home opener at Delta Field.
• Senior defender Jasmine Gallo also led the offense with 4 goals and 3 assists, totaling 11 points.
