BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Delta State University Women's Soccer players Caroline Chandler and Piper Burgess earned Gulf South Conference weekly honors this morning, as announced by the conference office.

Chandler was named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week after a strong weekend for the Lady Statesmen against Saint Leo and Eckerd. Against Saint Leo, Chandler scored three points including one goal on three total shots, including one shot on goal, while also recording an assist. Chandler also assisted on what would become the game-winning goal as the Lady Statesmen defeated Saint Leo 3-2 on the road. The junior midfielder totaled 151 minutes between the two matches against Eckerd and Saint Leo.

Burgess earned GSC Goalkeeper of the Week honors after an impressive performance against Eckerd on the road. The Lady Statesmen goalkeeper recorded 11 saves while posting a 0-0 shutout, playing all 90 minutes of the match. Burgess finished the match with a perfect 1.000 save percentage and did not allow a goal against the Tritons.

The Lady Statesmen will hit the road again today as they travel to Lebanon, Illinois, to take on the Bearcats of McKendree University. Kickoff is set for 10 a.m. CT.
