BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — The Delta State University women's cross-country team turned in a strong collective showing in the women's 5k at the Topper Trails Classic, finishing second in the team standings behind the host Blue Mountain College. The Lady Statesmen posted a team total of 40 points with an average time of 23:17 and a tight 1:03 spread among scorers.

Lindsey Hogue led the charge for Delta State, crossing the line in 22:41.70 to place sixth overall. Caroline McAlpin followed close behind in seventh at 23:08.00, while Mackenzie Mercer (23:25.20) and Linnet Barrock (23:25.90) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, to round out the top ten. Kayla Lofton added a tenth-place finish in 23:45.50, and Nayeli Lopez contributed a 12th-place effort at 24:43.80 to complete the scoring lineup.

Blue Mountain College claimed the team title with 15 points and an average time of 21:32, while Delta State's depth and consistency secured the runner-up position ahead of Lane College and Tougaloo College.

The Lady Statesmen will be back in action next Saturday as they will travel to Memphis for the CBU invitational.
