Billy Cobb III enters his second season as a student assistant coach on head coach Todd Cooley's staff.

Cobb, an exercise science major, did not see action for the Statesmen in 2019 due to a neck injury and began his coaching career after fall camp. 

The Jacksonville, Fla. native saw action in five games for Delta State at quarterback in 2018 and completed 11-of-23 passes for 82 yards and rushed 10 times for 27 yards. Before joining the #DSUFamily, Cobb played for one season at Albany State University.

Before enrolling at Albany State, Cobb played for Coach Verlon Dorminey at Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, Fla. While there, Cobb appeared in 27 career games, passing for 4,349 yards and 52 touchdowns, averaging 161.1 passing yards per contest.

Cobb is the son of Billy and Kimberly Cobb.
