David Gunter

David Gunter enters his first year as a graduate assistant under the direction of head football coach Todd Cooley.
 
Gunter comes to the #DSUFamily after serving as a graduate assistant at Quincy University in Springfield, Ill. While at Quincy, Gunter coached tight ends and assisted with the offensive game plan.
 
He was responsible for leading meetings, developing each week’s run game plan with the offensive line coach, ran individual drills, and assisted with the special teams game plan.
 
Gunter was part of an offensive coaching staff that led Quincy to set 12 different offensive records in 2019, and coached All-Conference tight end Briar Hancock in 2019.
 
Before arriving at Quincy, Gunter was a student assistant at Illinois State where he worked as a special teams and defensive student assistant. Illinois State won the Missouri Valley Conference in Gunter’s time with the Redbirds, and the team made it to the FCS Playoffs in 2015 and 2016.
 
In the recruiting realm, Gunter was in charge of recruiting Central Illinois while at Quincy, and he also helped locate potential prospects in Oklahoma and Arkansas. In addition, he ran official visit tours, and assisted the Recruiting Coordinator in operations dealing with official visits.
 
Gunter has a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Illinois State University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Quincy University.
