Lanier Goethie is in his fourth season at Delta State University and third under new head coach Todd Cooley. He will continue to serve as the Recruiting Coordinator and Linebackers coach.
Goethie came to DSU from North Greenville University where he served as an assistant under former Statesman head coach Jamey Chadwell.
Goethie helped build the North Greenville Crusader program into one of Super Region II’s top teams. With expectations at an all-time high for the Crusaders, Goethie and NGU pulled off an 11-3 season, advancing all the way to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals before losing 28-23 to Delta State at Parker Field-McCool Stadium.

Prior to his time at North Greenville, Goethie served two years as the Defensive Graduate Assistant for the University of Mississippi Rebels of the Southeastern Conference. During his time in Oxford, Miss., the Rebels participated in the 2010 Cotton Bowl where they defeated Oklahoma State.
A standout player at Ole Miss, Goethie started at linebacker for three seasons under former head coach David Cutcliffe and was awarded the programs prestigious “Chucky Mullins Award” which is presented to the programs defensive player that exudes excellence on the field, in the classroom, and in the community.
While a member of the Rebel footbal family, Goethie recorded 178 career tackles with 13 tackles-for-loss and an interception. He also participated in three bowl games while at Ole Miss.
Coach Goethie and his wife, Keonna reside in Cleveland.
