Delta State University

Toby Willis comes to Delta State to serve on Todd Cooley’s football staff for the 2013 season as a graduate assistant on the defensive side of the ball.  Willis is a 2008 graduate from McNeese State with a Bachelor of Science degree, where he was a two-year letter winner as a defensive back.  Willis also garnered accolades in the classroom, achieving recognition on the Honor Roll seven times while also being awarded to the President’s List once.
 
 Willis has been serving as the assistant head coach Plaquemine High School in Plaquemine, La. where he has been on the staff since February 2010, including a stint as the interim head coach.  His playing experience has helped him develop his coaching identity as he has grown from DB’s coach to defensive coordinator.  Prior to returning to the high school ranks, Willis was an assistant in the strength and conditioning program at Northwestern State University.
