Former Statesmen standout Jeremy Richardson named NBA D-League All-Star Game MVP

NEW ORLEANS- Former Statesman basketball player Jeremy Richardson was named MVP of the NBA D-League All-Star Game Saturday night in New Orleans. Richardson led all scorers with 22 points, finishing 9-of-15 from the floor with four rebounds, to lead the Blue team to a 117-99 victory.

“It feels good to win something like this, coming from where I come from,” said Richardson. “If it wasn't for the D-League, I probably would have never gotten a chance from an NBA team. I have to give a lot of credit to the D-League. It helped me out and that is the case for a lot of players out here. Everybody out here is talented and has a chance to make it to the NBA. There's a lot of competition out here.”

In 12 games this season for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, the former All-American is averaging 25 points and six rebounds.
