Statesmen soccer player #David Smith# was named the GoStatesmen.com Statesmen of the Week for the week ending September 1, 2008. This is the first honor for the junior. Smith, a forward from Pascagoula and a transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, picked up a goal and assist in the 4-2 victory over LeTourneau on Saturday, the first victory on the season for the Statesmen.
“David had a good game on Saturday for us. He played hard all game and I was pleased with what he was able to do on the field,” Allen said.
Smith and the Statesmen will travel to Springfield, Ill to take on a weekend series against Robert Morris- Springfield and Robert Morris-Lake County September 5 and 7. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and 2 p.m.
