Brenden Keeling, a 6-foot-1 freshman on the Delta State University men's tennis team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, April 19. It's the first career honor for Keeling and the first for the Statesmen tennis team this season.
Keeling, a native of New Market, Ontario, Canada, pulled off a stunning victory at the Gulf South Conference Men's Tennis Championships last weekend by defeating UNA's T.J. Drake 7-6, 6-0 at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala. While the Statesmen lost the match 5-3, Keeling helped DSU almost pull off the win.
Keeling is 4-8 this season for the Statesmen at No. 6 singles.
