Sophomore Maria Torres Perez has been named the Western Sizzlin’ Female Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 27. Torres opened the NSISC Championships Feb. 22 with a first-place finish in the 1000-Freestyle event with a time of 10:22.05. Torres's time was five seconds faster than her season best of 10:27.07. On the final day, she won the 1650-Freestyle with a time of 17:13.8, over 12 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
