Ixavier Triplett, a junior middle linebacker for the Statesmen football team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, Oct. 1. Â Tuesday's honor is the first this season for the two-time All-Gulf South Conference and All-South Region selection. Â
The Hillsboro, Miss., native finished Thursday's contest against Abilene Christian with a season-high 14 tackles and one tackle-for-loss. Â The double-digit tackle performance was his first this season. Â
Triplett, the 2010 GSC Freshman Defensive Player of the Year, leads the Statesmen with 31 tackles this season and has notched 214 in his career. Â He is currently on pace to challenge the school record for career tackles. Â
