Rhandi Ball, a sophomore on the Lady Statesmen basketball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, Jan. 14 after leading the Lady Statesmen to a 77-67 victory at Union University on Jan. 3. Monday's honor is the first this season for Ball.
The Pontotoc, Miss. native scored a season high 18 points shooting 8-14 from the field in the win over the Lady Bulldogs. On Jan. 5 Ball and the Lady Statesmen recorded a tough 59-58 loss against the Lions of North Alabama. In the loss Ball scored 12 points on 5-9 shooting. Ball’s 12 points marks the fifth time this season the sophomore has scored in double digits
Ball and the Lady Statesmen will return to the court on Jan. 10, 2013 versus the Shorter University Hawks. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Winthrop King Centre in Rome, Ga.
