Matt Allbritton, a redshirt senior on the Statesmen basketball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, Jan. 14. Monday’s honor is the first for Allbritton this season. The redshirt senior scored nine points against the Union University Bulldogs on Jan. 3 shooting 3-6 from the field while going 1-4 from three point range and shooting 2-2 from the free throw line.
The Garland, Texas. native scored 11 points in a loss to the conference rival Lions of North Alabama on Jan. 5. Against UNA the redshirt senior shot 4-6 from the field while shooting 2-3 from long range. It is on the second time this season that Allbritton has scored in double digits.
Allbritton and the Statesmen will return to the court on Jan. 10, 2013 versus the Shorter University Hawks. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. at the Winthrop King Centre in Rome, Ga.
