Terry Leake, Jr., a senior forward on the Statesmen Basketball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 27. Â It's Leake, Jr.'s second honor this season after helping the Delta State men's basketball team to a split last week in Gulf South Conference play at West Florida and Valdosta State. Â
The Memphis, Tenn., native scored 21 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds in a 60-54 loss at Valdosta State on Saturday, but contributed eight points and four rebounds, despite heavy foul trouble, in DSU's 60-54 win at West Florida last Thursday. Â
Leake, Jr., leads the Statesmen in scoring and rebounding this season, averaging 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Â
The Statesmen will return to the court on Saturday, Feb. 2 at Christian Brothers University. Â Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at Canale Arena in Memphis, Tenn. Â The Statesmen Sports Network will offer complete coverage.Â
