Ben Kingsley, a senior designated hitter for the Statesmen Baseball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 24. Â It's the first honor of the year for Kingsley and the Statesmen. Â
Kingsley helped lead the Statesmen to a 4-0 week and a sweep of perennial D2 power Florida Southern over the weekend. Â The senior batted .714 for the week, going 10-of-14 at the plate with two doubles, a triple and nine RBIs. Â He also scored seven runs, recorded a walk and swiped a base. Â He leads the Statesmen with 17 RBIs and a .500 average on the season.
The Mantachie, Miss., lead the Statesmen at the plate this season with a .500 average and 17 RBIs.
