Delta State University junior first baseman Taylor Holland collected her first career Gulf South Conference Player of the Week award on Tuesday, March 11 after leading the Lady Statesmen to a weekend sweep of Christian Brothers University at University Field. Â She is also GoStatesmen.com's Female Student-Athlete of the Week.Â
The Grenada, Miss., native went 7-for-10 at the plate in the series, while scoring five runs and driving in four. Holland saved her best performance for the series finale, going 3-for-3 at the plate and scoring three runs in DSU's 10-2 victory over the Lady Buccaneers.Â
In 23 games this season, Holland is batting .324 with 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored. She has collected 24 hits in 74 at-bats and ranks third on the team in runs scored and RBIs.Â
The three-year letter-winner will lead the Lady Statesmen into a five-game road swing this week with stops at Harding University on Tuesday and a three-game series at Union University over the weekend.
