P.J. Davis, a 6-foot-5 freshman on the men's basketball team, has been named the GoStatesmen.com Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Monday, Jan. 5. Wednesday's honor is the first this season for Davis.

The Cleveland, Miss., native turned in a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in a hard fought 73-61 loss at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Davis finished the night 6-of-9 from the floor and cleared seven defensive rebounds while grabbing five offensive boards.

Davis enters the week averaging 8.9 points and 5.5 rebounds per game for coach Jim Boone's Statesmen.
