Apsriona Gilbert, a senior post player for the Lady Statesmen, averaged 12.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the GSC/SSC Tip-Off Classic at Nova Southeastern to open the season.
The Myrtle, Mississippi native scored 12 points and collected 3 rebounds against No. 23 Nova Southeastern in the opening game on Nov. 11 and then tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds against Barry University on Nov. 12, marking her first double-double of the season.Â
The Lady Statesmen return to action in the home opener of the 2016-17 season on Tuesday, Nov. 22, when Delta State hosts Southern Arkansas University. The game will tip at 5:30 p.m.
