Devin Schmidt, a senior guard for the Statesmen, has been named CableOne GoStatesmen.com Athlete of the Week.Â
Schmidt, a Sevierville, Tennessee native, paced the Statesmen to a pair of wins against Mississippi College and Central Baptist in averaging 27.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
Schmidt's 28 points against Central Baptist pushed him over 2,000 points for his career, becoming the first ever Statesmen player to achieve that mark. His 2,026 points ranks 6th all-time in the GSC.Â
The Statesmen return to action on Thursday, Dec. 8 when they face off against Bethel at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The game is set to tip at 7 p.m.
