Sarah Mumme, a junior on the Lady Statesmen Cross Country team, has been named the CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week after helping lead Delta State to a fourth place overall finish at the Mississippi College Invite (4K). 

In the season opening race, Mumme registered a personal best 4K time of 15:57 en route to a 13th place finish to help anchor the Lady Statesmen.

Mumme, a Holcomb, Miss., native, paced the Lady Statesmen in averaging 6:25  per mile over the 4-kilometer course in her first racing action since missing the majority of last season with injuries.

The Lady Statesmen are back in action on Sept. 9, as they travel to Conway, Ark. for the Central Arkansas Invite (5K). The race is scheduled to go off at 9 a.m.
