This week’s CableOne GoStatesmen.com Male Athlete of the Week is Delta State golfer, Zach Zediker.
The first Statesmen ever to earn Gulf South Conference Freshman Golfer of the Month accolades, Zediker claimed top medalist honors at the Henderson State Fall Golf Invitational early last week. The Panama City, Florida, native led by one shot heading into the final round before shooting a five-under, 67; his final card of six-under, 210 was ten strokes ahead of the nearest competitor.
While Zediker captured the individual title, he also led Delta State to its first team title since October 2015. The Statesmen trailed Henderson State by seven strokes on the tournament’s last day before pulling out a three-shot victory. The win was also Delta State’s first under new head coach Easton Key.
Zediker and the Statesmen return to action at the Samford University Intercollegiate Invitational on October 23-24 at the Greystone Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.
