This week’s CableOne GoStatesmen.com Female Athlete of the Week is Kelly Byrd of the Lady Statesmen softball team.

Byrd finished the UAH Charger Chillout 6-for-10 with two triples, a double, a sac fly, five RBIs and four runs. She also walked twice and was hit by a pitch three times. Her double against Indianapolis gave DSU a 10-1 victory, which was just the second time in 75 games that the Greyhounds have lost via the mercy rule.

Byrd had an on base percentage of .688, as she reached base safely 11-of-15 times.
