Anna Whitehead, of the Lady Statesmen soccer team, has been named GoStatesmen.com Female Student-Athlete of the Week, after helping Delta State to road victories against Union and Christian Brothers.

Whitehead scored a pair of goals during the two games, the first of which was her first in the Green-and-White. Her goal at Christian Brothers proved to be the match winner. She was also fouled in the box at CBU, resulting in a penalty kick. The weekend wins were historic for DSU, as the Lady Statesmen won back-to-back GSC matches for the first time since 2008. DSU also beat CBU for the first time since 2008. The Lady Statesmen also broke a scoring drought against CBU that stood for four years.
