Freshman Bailey Pounds was named one of GoStatesmen.com's Featured Athletes of the Week, presented by Guaranty Bank, as she helped the Delta State University women's cross country team to a 10th place finish at the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Pounds, who led the Lady Statesmen as the team's top finisher in her collegiate debut, posted a 21:13.82 on the 5K course at John Hunt Running Park. The Brookhaven, Miss. native, averaged a 6:51 mile in placing 63rd overall for the Green and White.
Delta State is back in action on Friday, Sept. 25, when they travel to Florence, Ala. for the University of North Alabama Invitational 5K.
