Delta State University women's tennis player Valentine Colin was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Athlete of the Week after she won a pair of matches against Shorter University to help the Lady Statesmen to a 6-1 win over the Hawks.

Colin and doubles partner Katheryne Valencia Perez squeezed past Isabel Nikolaeva and Mary Ella Owen from Shorter 7-5 in the No. 1 singles spot to help Delta State secure the doubles point. 

Colin then took down Maria Murtinez from Shorter 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 1 singles spot to secure the point enroute to the 6-1 win for the Lady Statesmen. 

Delta State returns to action on Friday, April 9 against the University of West Alabama in Livingston, Ala, followed by a match on Saturday morning in Montevallo, Ala. against the University of Montevallo Falcons.
