Statesmen football player Emanuel Barber was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Student-Athlete of the Week after he had five tackles against the University of West Georgia.
In addition to Barber's two solo tackles and three assisted tackles, the Chicago, Illinois native, registered an interception that he returned 23 yards for a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Wolves. He also added a tackle for loss for the Statesmen.
The Statesmen are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 25, when they travel to Jackson, Miss. to take on Jackson State University in the W.C. Gorden Classic at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.
