Delta State University football player Deion Dampier was named a Guaranty Bank Featured Student-Athlete of the Week after his performances this past weekend.

Dampier tallied 159 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries and averaged 7.9 yards per carry for the Statesmen against North Greenville. Dampier's 20 carries tied his career-high, and his 159 rushing yards set a new career-high. 

The rushing touchdown marked his fourth such score of the season, which ranks him tied for third in the Gulf South Conference in rushing touchdowns. He has scored six total touchdowns on the campaign. 

Delta State is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 23, as the Statesmen travel to Livingston, Ala. to take on the No. 10 University of West Alabama Tigers at Tiger Stadium at 4 p.m.
