MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Delta State University women's basketball team claimed their fourth win in a row Wednesday with a 55-45 victory over the University of Montevallo at BankTrust Arena. The Lady Statesmen climbed above .500 on the season at 5-4, while the Lady Falcons slipped to 2-6.
The Lady Statesmen jumped out on the Lady Falcons early in the first after forcing several UM turnovers. DSU used the inside game to hold a 25-18 lead at the break.
Delta State shot 38.5 percent in the first half on 10-of-26 attempts, while holding Montevallo to just 27.8 percent on 5-of-18 attempts. Both teams struggled from the three point and free throw lines.
The Lady Statesmen couldn't find an offensive rhythm in the second half, but held on for the 55-45 victory.
Delta State finished the night shooting 36 percent, after shooting just 33 percent (8-of-24) in the second half. Montevallo shot 55 percent in the second period to close the night at 42.1 percent (16-of-38). The Lady Statesmen out-rebounded the Lady Falcons 35-30 and forced 20 turnovers.
LaMaesha McAdory led the Lady Statesmen with 10 points and seven boards on the night. Bug Cooper added nine points, five boards and three assists.

Courtney Wilson chipped in with eight.
Carrie Parrott and Alicia Lewis both scored 12 points for Montevallo to lead all scorers.
The Lady Statesmen return to Walter Sillers Coliseum on Saturday to face Rhema Bible College. Game time is set for 1 p.m. and it will be aired on the Statesmen Sports Network. J.T. Webb and Troy Treasure have the call.
