Statesmen top century mark again, 105-91 over Condorida

  

SELMA, Ala.- The Delta State University Statesmen basketball team picked up their second straight win while topping the century mark for the second time this season, 105-91 over Concordia College Thursday night. Delta State improved to 6-2 on the season while Concordia-Selma drops to 6-2

Delta State led 58-45 at the break shooting 53 percent from the floor including 7-of-14 from three-point range. The Hornets kept it close throughout the half despite shooting 47 percent and also scored seven three-point buckets in the first half.

The Statesmen shot better in the second, 61 percent, while making 70 percent of their free-throws. The green-and-white dominated the glass out-rebounding the Hornets 48-31.

Arian Maliqi narrowly missed a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds while teammate Joe McCray finished with 21. Eric Spencer also narrowly missed a double-double scoring 13 points while grabbing nine boards. Oliver Mansour rounded out the top scorers with 10.

The Hornets had ten players finish in double figures led by Demetruis Fleetion who had 18.

The Statesmen will battle Montevallo December 13 at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7p.m.
