Lady Statesmen Weekly Basketball Release - No. 2

CLEVELAND - The Lady Statesmen (11-5, 1-0 GSC) of Delta State University look to extend their 25-game Gulf South Conference win streak this week with a pair of games against Arkansas-Monticello and Christian Brothers. The Lady Statesmen host UAM on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. before traveling to Memphis, Tenn. to face CBU on Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. 

The Lady Statesmen began the defense of their GSC title with a convincing 66-50 victory over the Lady Tigers of Ouachita Baptist University last Saturday at Sillers Coliseum. All-America candidate Bug Cooper (5-6• Soph. • PG) scored a career-high 19 points and dished out six assists in the win. 
Freshman sensation Veronica Walker (6-1 • Fr. • F) added 16 points and nine rebounds as well. 

The games will be broadcast on the Statesmen Sports Network starting 15 minutes prior to tipoff. J.T. Webb and Troy Treasure will have the call.
