Game Notes: OBU Lady Tigers at DSU Lady Statesmen

CLEVELAND - The Lady Statesmen (10-5, 0-0 GSC) of Delta State University begin the quest for their fourth-straight Gulf South Conference title Saturday, Jan. 10 with the Lady Tigers (10-3) of Ouachita Baptist University.  Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on the Statesmen Sports Network starting at 3:45 p.m. with the "SouthGroup Insurance Locker Room Report."

After a slow start (1-4), the Lady Statesmen have righted the ship behind one of the nation's toughest defenses.  Sophomore point guard Bug Cooper and senior forward LaMaesha McAdory have formed one of the top combos in the country.  Cooper ranks eighth in the country in assists per game, and McAdory has recorded five double-doubles on the young season.  o lead the Lady Statesmen   

Coach Sandra Rushing's squad faces one of the most improved team's in the GSC from a year ago Saturday in OBU.  The Lady Tigers went 5-22 last season, but have improved using a combination of youth and experience to 10-3 this season.

The Lady Statesmen and Lady Tigers will be meeting for the 19th time Saturday.  DSU leads the all-time series 16-2.
