Lady Statesmen fall 4-0 to fourth-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State

ARKADELPHIA, ARK. – The Delta State University softball team was held to just one hit in a 4-0 defeat by No. 4 Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Marjorie Johnson improved her record to 12-0 on the season, striking out 13 Lady Statesmen hitters in five innings, without allowing a single hit. With the win, the Savage Storm improved to 30-4 on the season, while the Lady Statesmen fell to 11-8.

Four Savage Storm hitters finished with an RBI, but it was Jaclyn Mullaney and Amanda Tanner's RBI-singles in the bottom of the second that provided all the offense SEOSU would need in the game.

Edie Oliver (7-5) was charged with the loss after allowing four runs, three earned, on 10 hits with three strikeouts and one walk in six innings.

Emily Hearn had the lone hit for the Lady Statesmen, a leadoff pinch-hit double in the top of the seventh inning.

The Lady Statesmen will open Gulf South Conference play Saturday, March 21, when they take on the Lady Tigers of Ouachita Baptist in a double-header scheduled to begin a 1:00 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Ark.
