CLEVELAND
- The No. 1 Lady Statesmen (7-0, 0-0 GSC) of Delta State University will put their undeafted record and 51-game home winning streak on the line against two of the top teams from the Gulf South Conference East Division, as DSU welcomes West Florida (5-3) and Valdosta State (4-3) to Walter Sillers Coliseum.  The Lady Statesmen and Argonauts will square off on Sunday, Dec. 12 at 2 p.m., while the Lady Blazers of VSU come calling on Tuesday, Dec. 14 with a scheduled 6 p.m. tip.

The Lady Statesmen have won 51-straight home games dating back to a 52-49 loss to Southern Arkansas on Jan. 18, 2007.  DSU's school record consecutive wins is 58 during the Margaret Wade Era.

Delta State and West Florida will be meeting for the 10th time in series history with the Lady Statesmen holding a 7-2 edge in the series standings.  Valdosta State and DSU have become quite familiar with one another over the past four years, playing seven times with DSU winning all seven games, while ending VSU's season for the last three years.

This weekend's games with UWF/VSU will end the GSC Crossover for 2010-2011.  DSU is currently 4-0 against the East Division.

Senior point guard Sarita “Bug” Cooper has led the NCAA in assists each of the last two seasons and she has picked up right where she left off last year.  Through seven games, Cooper has dished out 35 assists and has topped the 700-assists plateau in her career.  Her 726 assists rank No. 1 all-time in Gulf South Conference history and the Indianola native needs just 122 points to top the 1,000 point plateau.

Veronica Walker, a 6-foot-1 junior, looks to repeat as the GSC's West Division Player of the Year after averaging a league leading 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds per game as a sophomore.  Walker is averaging 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game thus far.

Through seven games, coach Sandra Rushing has played with five different starting line-ups, including six newcomers seeing their first action in the green-and-white.

DSU is holding the opposition to 43.7 points and 30.0 percent from the field through the first seven games of the year.
