SOUTHAVEN - The No. 8 Lady Statesmen (24-2) of Delta State University will face a familiar foe on Saturday in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament, the Lady Blazers (19-7) of Valdosta State University. Tipoff is set for 2:45 p.m. at the Desoto Civic Center.
Prior to this year's postseason, the Lady Statesmen and Lady Blazers have met four times in the postseason, including three-straight GSC Tournament semifinal clashes. The Lady Statesmen have won all four, including a 55-52 overtime win in last year's semifinals.
Valdosta State advanced to Saturday's game with a 64-49 win over Christian Brothers, while the Lady Statesmen eliminated West Alabama 85-57 behind
Moe Bell's career-high 33 points.
Saturday's match-up will be the 30th in series history. DSU leads the all-time series 25-4, including a 54-41 win on Dec. 15 in Valdosta, Ga. this season.
