CLEVELAND-For the first time since the 2008 season, the Delta State University Statesmen soccer team won consecutive games, as DSU blanked Spring Hill College 2-0 Wednesday at Delta Field.
The Statesmen (2-4) had not won consecutive games, since winning five straight in the 2008 season.
Patrick McPherson scored the first goal of his career in the 22nd minute off a cross from
Jacob Stevenback.
The Statesmen scored a quick insurance goal when freshman
Eljay Allen had a long range strike find its way in, four minutes after the opening score.
SHC (1-4-1) totaled eight shots on goal, compared to seven for DSU, but Statesmen goalkeeper
Flavio Romero earned his first clean sheet of the season.
The Statesmen outshout the Badgers 17-14 in the contest.
DSU will look for their third straight win Saturday, Sept. 18, as they host Freed Hardeman. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
