CLEVELAND-The Delta State University soccer team dropped its third straight game, and second Gulf South Conference match, as Harding defeated DSU 1-0 at Delta Field on Sunday.
Harding (1-5, 1-1) scored the game-winner in the 42nd minute off the foot of Forward Glen Stewart.
The Statesmen (2-7, 0-2) are still searching for their first goal in 180 minutes of GSC play.
The Statesmen had a trio of quality chances, but HU goalkeeper Will Reno denied a pair of efforts from
Patrick McPherson and
Eljay Allen, including a shot the went begging off the post in the 65th minute.
DSU was outshot 19-13, but had more shots on goal. The Statesmen had six shots-on-goal, compared to five for the Bisons.
Reno finished with six saves, and his counterpart,
Flavio Romero finished with four.
DSU will look for their first GSC win on Wednesday, Sept. 29, as they play host to the Christian Brothers Buccaneers.
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. Admission is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
