The match was competitive throughout, as both teams had chances to score in the first half. West Florida (8-3-2, 3-1 GSC) took nine shots in the first half, and the Statesmen took four shots.

Junior goalkeeper Flavio Romero played well, as he made six saves, and allowed just the one goal. Ramon Sealy made six saves as well for West Florida, as he picked up the victory.

The referee booked three players during the match. Sophomore forward Eljay Allen was given a yellow card in the 66th minute, and Steven Simmons was also booked with a yellow for the Statesmen in the 62nd minute. Dillon Gallet was shown a yellow by the referee in the 80th minute for West Florida.

The Statesmen are still in the conference race, as they look to get back on track with a road trip to Arkansas. They will play Harding on Friday, and Ouachita Baptist on Sunday. All three teams are looking for their first conference wins of the season.
