Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Caue Da Silva scored a pair of goals and 
Daniel Deblaere added an assist as the Statesmen defeated Alabama-Huntsville 3-1 Sunday afternoon.
The win for the Statesmen (6-7-1, 3-5-0 Gulf South Conference) snapped a seven-game winless skid that included six losses and a tie.
Da Silva got things rolling for the Statesmen with a goal in the 25th minute against the Chargers, scoring off of an assist from 
Sebastian Ridout.
Da Silva's goal, his 11th of the season, set a new Statesmen soccer record for goals in a season, breaking a four-way tie that included 10-goal seasons from David Horstmann (2008 and 2009) and David Smith (2008).
In the second half, Da Silva added another goal, scoring on a breakaway off a ball from goalkeeper 
Mack Pytyck in the 54th minute.
The freshman's second goal of the game also gave the São Sebastião do Caí, Brazil native the Statesmen soccer single season point record as he now sits at 25 points on the year (12 goals, 1 assist). Horstmann held the previous record at 24 points (10 goals, 4 assists).
In the 64th minute, senior defender 
Steven Simmons scored to give the Statesmen a 3-0 lead.
Daniel Deblaere picked up an assist on the play adding to the Statesmen records to fall on the day. Deblaere's assist gave th junior eight on the season and set a Statesmen record for assists in a season.
Alabama-Huntsville (1-11-0, 0-8-0 GSC) added a goal late in the game, taking away a clean sheet. The Statesmen outshot the Chargers 13-8 in the match and had five corners to UAH's two.
With the final whistle, another Statesmen record was tied on the day. Da Silva's second goal, the game-winning goal, tied Rodrigo Luczensky (2007) for game-winning goals in a season with three.
The win pulls the Statesmen closer to the program's first conference tournament berth as the Statesmen hold a six point advantage with four games remaining.
Delta State will return to action Friday with a conference match against West Alabama at Delta Field.
