Box Score CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University Lady Statesmen Basketball team forced 16 steals and scored 41 points off turnovers in a 90-54 rout of the Stillman College Tigers in the opening game of the 2012 Lloyd Clark Classic, on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Stillman (0-4) held a brief 3-2 lead with 18:53 remaining in the first half with a three-point basket by Desiree Wright.
DSU (4-1) finished the remainder of the first half playing stifling defense, allowing only 19 total Tiger points, including a 7:49 stretch in which Stillman did not score from the field. The Green-and-White forced 18 first half turnovers, including 13 steals.
The Lady Statesmen cruised to the half with a 44-19 lead helped by 18-of-34 (52.9) shooting, while holding the Tigers to 5-of-22 (22.7) from the floor.
Brooke Rhodes led the way with a game high 12 first half points. Angel Mitchell led the Tigers with six in the first 20 minutes.
Stillman forced 12 second half turnovers, and converted those into 12 points, as the Lady Statesmen outscored the Tigers 46-35 in the second half.
Rhodes finished with a game high 22 points for DSU.

Ashley Brown (10) each finished with double figures for the Lady Statesmen. Mitchell finished with 12 for the Tigers.
Stillman shot 12-of-32 (37.5) in the second half to finish 17-of-54 (31.5) from the floor, while DSU finished 34-of-67 (50.7).
DSU won the rebounding battle with a commanding 54-36 edge.
The Lloyd Clark Classic will wrap up with a 1 p.m. matchup between the Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers and Stillman.
DSU returns to action at Walter Sillers Coliseum on Saturday, Dec. 1 for a 2 p.m. tipoff to open up Gulf South Conference play with the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers.
